‘Wolfhounds’ reunite at Robbins farm 41 years later

Nine members of the 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron “Wolfhounds,” stationed in Soesterberg, Holland in 1972-1975, gathered for a reunion at Tim and Vickie Robbins’ farm outside of Scranton Aug. 13-16. Most had not seen each other for 41 years.

Everyone experienced life on the farm including driving a tractor, baling hay, hayrides, taking walks in the timber, haying cows and star gazing. Some requested specific food, such as Iowa Chops, pork loin, corn on the cob and homemade pickled beets. The homemade ice cream was a huge hit.

Attending were Gary and Sandy Hunter of Nebraska; Arthur and Stephanie Macon and their grandsons Isaac, Noah, and Jaden of South Carolina; Ken and Nancy Knopp of Oregon; Jon and Carolyn Parmenter of Iowa; Randy and Chris Dennis of California; Bill and Sharon Szymczak of Pennsylvania; Mike and Cathy Heitz of Arizona; and Darius and Debbie Baker of California.

Everone agreed that it is never too late to get old friends together and that Iowa is a great place to re-unite friendships and make new ones as well. There were many versions of the same stories from all nine men with much laughter included. God Bless America and the men and women of the armed forces past and present!
