Greene County district court, week ending Aug. 28

In Greene County district court Joshua Martinez, 32, of Ogden was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault-serious. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. Martinez must pay a $315 fine with a $110.25 surcharge, $100 court costs, and restitution for his court appointed attorney not to exceed $600. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)

Cases were initiated against Patrick Michael Kennedy, 30, of Jefferson on a charge of operating a vehicle without owner’s consent, and against Megan Marie McCormick, 28, of Ames on a charge of operating while intoxicated-first offense.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Roy Steed Cope, 70, hometown unknown, has been charged with burglary-third degree and theft-first degree. The warrant was issued in May, 2013, in connection with the theft of a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix from Jack’s Auto in Jefferson. Cope has been incarcerated in the Appanoose County jail. The Greene County warrant was served Aug. 24.
