Blood drive in Jefferson Sept. 8

Need for 0-negative blood is critical

LifeServe Blood CenterLifeServe Blood Center will hold a community blood drive Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 12:30 to 5:30 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 801 W. Lincoln Way in Jefferson. Call 1-800-287-4903 or visit www.lifeservebloodcenter.org to make an appointment.  Walk-ins are welcome.

According to Abby Hausmann-Virgil, director of donor recruitment for LifeServe Blood Center, “it has been a summer of ups and downs for our blood supply, but the last several weeks have been particularly tough. Summer has finally caught up with us, and we have seen lower donor turnout at our blood drives and donor centers, which has put our local blood supply at dangerously low levels.”

There is a particular need for donors with a “negative” blood type. The need for O-negative blood is so critical that LifeServe is offering all O-negative blood donors double points now through Sept. 12.

Each year, more than 500,000 lives are positively impacted because of generous LifeServe blood donors. Donating blood is safe, simple and only takes about an hour, making it one Neeof the easiest ways to give back to the community.
