Saturday, Aug. 8, friends and relatives are invited to a celebration for Phil and Sharon (Bardole) McBlain’s 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 pm at the home of Nancy and Dale Hanaman. Cake and homemade ice cream will be served.

August 16:  All-Parish Worship service at 10:30 at the Perry First UMC.  There will be a special service to great Pastor Rosa Pachas Soto and to welcome Pastor Paul as our Senior Pastor, with a potluck to follow for all to enjoy.

During worship on Sunday, Aug. 2, the True Heroes Under God (THUG) youth group reported on its mission trip to the Osage Indian Reservation in Oklahoma.  There were six youth members sharing their favorite highlights of the week, as well as input from their leaders, Jason and Angela Abbas.  The group thanked the church members for their long-time support and looks forward to the next mission trip.

The summer reading program ended last week with the final party on Wednesday. Thanks to all who participated during the month of July and those who helped with crafts and treats. There will be a brief “recess” of organized activities until after school begins.

Bridal shower: A community bridal shower was held Aug. 1 for Lauren King at the Rippey United Methodist Church.  Lauren is the bride-elect of Schyler Bardole. They will be married on Sept. 19.  The food was served on lovely decorated tables in the fall colors chosen for the wedding.  After introductions of the family members attending, Lauren opened her gifts.

Family members present were Lauren’s mother Karla King, grandmother Kay Renwanz, great-aunt Verdina Hastings, and cousin Tori Gettler.

Schyler’s family included his mother Lori Bardole, grandmothers Phyllis Bardole and Toni Roberts, aunts Wendy Burkett, Yvette Bardole and Allison Bardole, great-aunt Charlene Dorman, and great-great aunt Kathleen Linn. Several cousins also included were Kate Bardole, who helped unwrap the gifts and will be her flower girl, as well as Josie, Addie and Lily Burkett.

Members of Lauren’s bridal party decorated the tables and assisted in hosting the event included Cassie Bardole, who will be the maid of honor, McKinsey Druivenga and Shelby Storm, who will be her bridesmaids at the wedding.

The kitchen committee consisted of Mary Ann Hick, Lisa Hick, Connie Neese, Jo Bardole, Mary Weaver and Jean Borgeson.
