Hundreds expected for Hot August Night

Hot August Night 2015Chamber adds Cruise Into Savings promotion

Regardless of the weather, the “hottest” night this month will be Thursday, Aug. 13, with the 2015 edition of Hot August Night filling the streets surrounding the courthouse square in Jefferson with cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors. Hot August Night is slated for 5 to 8 pm and is hosted by the Greene County Chamber of Commerce.

The first 300 exhibitors to register will receive a free T-shirt and a bag with coupons from local merchants and other items. Last year 356 vehicles were registered and organizers are planning for more. A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the visiting car club that brings and registers the most vehicles. Exhibitors can find registration information at www.jeffersoniacarshows.info.

Exhibitors will select an Exhibitor’s Choice Award and a Spirit Award will be given to the vehicle that best captures the “spirit” of the annual cruise night in remembrance of car enthusiast Walter E. Hausdorfer.

A grilled picnic supper of hamburgers, pork loin burgers, chips and water will be served for a charge by the Jefferson Kiwanis Club, the Chamber and volunteers. Seating will be available on both the north and south sides of the courthouse. Free watermelon donated by Fareway will also be available while the supply lasts.

Many downtown stores will be open during Hot August Night. Shoppers are encouraged to visit participating businesses and pick up Cruise Into Savings coupons for extra savings not only that evening, but in the weeks ahead. Watch for Cruise Into Savings signs in the windows of participating businesses.

Sponsors of Hot August Night at the Gold level are Edward Jones, Ben Franklin, Oly’s Corner, Peoples Trust & Savings Bank, Home State Bank, Doc’s Stadium, Rueter’s Red Power, McAtee Tire & Service Center, and McLaughlin International. Silver level sponsors are Unger Insurance, Regency Park Nursing & Rehab Center, Harrison RV, Neese Inc and Hy-Vee Inc.

Persons who would like to volunteer to help the Hot August Night can call the Chamber office at 515-386-2155.
