Rams split baseball games at Kuemper tournament

The Ram baseball team lost to Carroll and won a game with St Albert High School (Council Bluffs) at the Kuemper Catholic tournament in Carroll Sunday.

Daric Whipple took the pitching loss in the first game. Jordan Hostetler pitched in relief. The Rams had four errors. The Rams got only two hits, both singles by Riah Nelsen. Whipple had the RBI.

Carroll jumped out in the first inning with six runs, then got four in the fifth and one in the sixth, as they had 12 hits and only one error. Final score was 11-1, with the game called after five innings.

Tyler Beger started on the mound in the game against the St Albert Falcons. He pitched 4-2/3 innings, but the win went to reliever Reid Lamouruex.

The Rams got 11 hits. Tyler Hostetler hit a triple to drive in a run. Whipple hit a double and Nelsen got two RBIs on two sacrifice flies. Lamoureux hit a double and a single. Dylan McConnell hit two singles for two RBIs, and Beger hit two singles for one RBI. Alex Rasmussen, Jordan Challen and Colton Fitzpatrick all hit singles, with Rasmussen and Challen scoring RBIs on theirs. Final score was 10-8.

The Rams are 12-9 overall and 8-4 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. They return to league play Monday evening as they host the North Polk Comets at Allensworth Field in Jefferson.
