April cooler and wetter than normal

April was cooler and wetter than normal in Jefferson, but despite the cooler temperatures, there was less snow than normal.

According to data from volunteer weather observer John Beltz, Jefferson received 0.3 inch of snow in April, 1.5 inches less than normal, but precipitation for the month totaled 4.96 inches, compared to the normal 3.19 inches. Beltz recorded rain on 12 days in April, with two rainfalls being more than one inch.

The average high temperature was 60.8 degrees, compared to the normal 63.3 degrees. High temperature for April was 83 degrees on April 2. The average low temperature was 35.6 degrees, compared to the normal average low temperature of 38. 4 degrees. Low temperature for April was 29 degrees on April 4. The low temperature has been above 32 degrees since April 24.

Record high temperature for April in Jefferson is 96 degrees on April 22, 1980. Record low temperature is 6 degrees on April 3, 1936.
