Scranton boy killed in ag-related ATV accident

Grant Robbins, 8-year-old son of Justin and Lacie Robbins of rural Scranton, was killed in an ATV accident Wednesday afternoon near his home in Kendrick Township.

According to Greene County sheriff Steve Haupert, three deputies and Greene County EMS responded to the call at 4:44 pm. Grant was alone, driving a Polaris Ranger XP side-by-side on an errand to get supplies to take back to the field. He turned sharply into the driveway and the vehicle rolled onto its driver’s side.

Grant was trapped under the rollbar on the ATV. He suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt or a helmet at the time.

Greene County sheriff Steve Haupert reminds anyone operating an ATV to use a seatbelt and wear a helmet.

Grant was a second grader at Greene County Elementary. School superintendent Tim Christensen said Thursday morning that counselors would be available to students as needed, and he extended his condolences to Grant’s family.
