Thursday, April 30: At 10:22 am a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 300 block of N. Oak St. At 7:31 pm an officer was advised of a complaint of ATVs being ridden on the abandoned railroad right of way next to Cedar St north of Lincoln Way. A warning was given. At 7:54 pm a complainant reported an assault that had occurred in the street in the 300 block of W. Washington St earlier in the day. Charges are pending completion of the investigation. ***Following an investigation initiated on Jan. 30 regarding an insufficient funds check in the amount of $773.00 at Eye Care Associates, a warrant has been issued charging Beth Anne Lenning, 44, of Fort Dodge, with theft – third degree*. *** Pursuant to a complaint of criminal mischief where purple hand prints in painthad been put on a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed Street, a warrant has been issued charging Brittany Kay Smith, 27, of Jefferson with criminal mischief – fifth degree*.

Wednesday, April 29: At 2:34 am a complainant reported the theft of a vehicle from the 100 block of E. Clark St. The vehicle was later located in Boone County. The incident remains under investigation. At 9:15 am a complainant reported criminal mischief at a residence in the 200 block of S. Oak St. At 11:01 am an officer responded to an accident at the intersection of W. Washington and N. Elm St. Dax Lautner was southbound on Elm preparing to turn east onto Washington. John Danielson was northbound on Elm driving a pickup truck and pulling a vehicle on a dolly trailer. As Lautner turned east (left) he struck Danielson’s vehicle, the dolly trailer, and the vehicle on it. The vehicle Lautner was driving, a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse owned by Nicole Lautner, sustained an estimated $8,000 in damages. Damage to Danielson’s 1999 Ford F150 was estimated at $5,000, with damage to the dolly trailer estimated at $1,800. Damage to the vehicle on the trailer, a 2011 Chevrolet Impala owned by Alan Robinson, was estimated at $800. The accident remains under investigation. At 11:23 am a complainant reported a theft from a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed St.

Tuesday, April 28: At 2:01 pm a complainant reported a domestic disturbance which had taken place on the Raccoon Valley Trail near 252nd St south of Jefferson. The officer’s investigation resulted in arresting Amelia Kennedy, 30, of Jefferson for contempt of court- violation of no contact order*. Staff at Dollar General reported the theft of items valued at $42.96 by a female who had fled the store. The officers identified the female through video footage and charges are pending at this time.  

Monday, April 27: At 4:48 am an officer was made aware of a possible illegal activity occurring on Facebook by a group out of Florida that seeks out possible sexual predators. At 1:29 pm staff at Hy-Vee reported a male at the store who had allegedly stolen alcohol from the store the previous weekend. The male was identified and trespassed from the property. Charges are pending for the previous theft. At 1:29 pm a complainant reported possible criminal mischief done to a vehicle in the 200 block of W. Russell St. At 2:24 pm a complainant reported a yard sprinkler had been stolen from the yard in the 600 block of S. Olive St. At 3:19 pm an officer investigated a traffic collision at Lincoln Way and Cedar St. Katelyn Fees was eastbound on Lincoln Way. Carole Fisher was westbound. Fisher attempted to turn south (left) onto Cedar St and their vehicles collided in the intersection. There were no injuries. Fisher was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to her 1987 Nissan pickup truck and to Fees’ 1997 Saturn SL1 was estimated at $1,000. At 3:31 pm a complaint reported the theft of a white Huffy BMX bike with green pegs from a residence in the 500 block of W. Madison St.

Saturday, April 25: At 1:57 pm a complainant reported three males outside his residence in the 600 block of W. Washington St, one of whom had a gun. The officers along with a Greene County deputy responded. A gun was located but did not match the description given by the complainant and was disassembled. The completion of the investigation led to the arrest of Zachary Waters of Jefferson and Dray Rivera of Grand Junction for disorderly conduct*.  At 4:09 pm a complainant reported fraudulent usage of his credit card. At 11:06 pm an officer investigated a car-deer accident by the intersection of S. Elm St and Ram Drive. Sondra Bohn was southbound in the outside lane of South Elm Street just south of Ram Drive. A deer ran eastbound into the path of Bohn. The front passenger side of Bohn’s 2010 Toyota Corolla made contact with the deer causing approximately $300 in damages.

Friday, April 24: At 7pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to her vehicle while parked in the 500 block of W. Madison Street. At 7:48 pm staff at Hy-Vee reported an incident of shoplifting. The suspect was no longer in the store upon the officer’s arrival. The officer is attempting to identify the individual.

Thursday, April 23: At 6:19 pm an officer assisted the sheriff’s office with a complaint at a residence in the 1200 block of N Ave in Hardin Township. The officer arrested Kurt Potthoff, 56, of Urbandale and charged him with criminal mischief – fifth degree*. At 8:59 pm Dollar General staff reported shoplifting. A male had run from the store when questioned about items observed in a sweatshirt pocket. The incident remains under investigation. At 10:04 pm an officer was requested at a residence in the 300 block of N. Elm for a trespass complaint. At 10:38 pm Joshua Jeffery requested an officer at a residence in the 700 block of N. Wilson for a reported assault. Jeffery had previously moved out of the house. He returned Thursday and entered without permission. He woke a resident who told him to leave the house and then struck Jeffery, cutting his head. Jeffery was charged with trespass-simple*. ***Pursuant to a reported theft of liquor from Hy-Vee on April 13, Ricardo Rodriguez, 29, of Jefferson has been charged with theft – fifth degree*. ***After the conclusion of an investigation initiated on Feb. 11, where a billfold was reported to have been taken from a vehicle and a credit card used at  a local business, an officer has charged Dante Copeland, 20, of Panora with unauthorized use of a credit card and theft – fifth degree*.

Wednesday, April 22: At 12:15 pm an officer was advised of a hit and run accident involving the vacant building at 111 E. Lincoln Way. A white Chevrolet Silverado was reported to have struck the building in the alleyway and then leave the area. The driver was identified as a   Scranton resident and a deputy sheriff was requested to contact the driver. The officer’s report is pending at this time.

Tuesday, April 21: At 1:12 pm staff at Greene County Middle School reported a student had walked away from the school earlier in the day. A family member had been looking for the 14-year-old. The 14-year-old male was not immediately located and was entered into the NCIC system nationwide as a runaway. The juvenile returned home in Grand Junction later in the evening. At 6:09 pm an officer was advised of a domestic disturbance taking place at a residence in the 400 block of N. Chestnut St between an adult male and female. The officer was told that the female and a 16-year-old male had been assaulted. The adult male complained of a medical condition and was transported by ambulance to the Greene CountyMedical Center where he was treated and released. The officer then arrested        Daniel Ray Hulburt Sr, 47, of Jefferson and charged him with domestic abuse assault, assault and obstruction of emergency communications, all simple misdemeanors*. At 9:38 pm an officer was advised of a vehicle eastbound on Lincoln Way near Elm St that was all over the road and had nearly struck some parked cars. The officer observed the vehicle at Wilson and Lincoln Way. The officer followed the vehicle, observed probable cause to stop it and attempted a traffic stop. The driver did not immediately stop for the officer and continued to Q Ave and County Road E-53 east of Jefferson where the driver did stop for the officer. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Polly Marie Bauer, 46, of Coon Rapids for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence – first offense and cited for driving on wrong side of two way highway*.

Monday, April 20: At 5:41 am a complainant reported finding a burglary at 903 N. Elm Street. At 10:06 am a complainant reported drive-by harassment by a female in the 300 block of N. Chestnut St and the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed St. At 10:07 am a complainant in the 100 block of W. Wilcox Way reported identity theft. At 3:06 pm staff at Kum and Go reported a theft of fuel. Charges are pending completion of the investigation. At 9:09 pm a complainant spoke to an officer regarding a concern of criminal mischief at a residence in the 800 block of W. Lincoln Way.

Saturday, April 18: At 9:41 am an officer investigated a backing accident in the 200 block of N. Vine St. Debra Curtis of Jefferson struck a parked 2014 Chevy Impala, owned by Chad Leighty, while backing from a parking spot. Curtis was cited for unsafe backing upon a highway. Her 2001 Hyundai sustained an estimated $400 in damage. The Leighty vehicle suffered an estimated $1000 in damages. At 1:50 pm officers responded to a reported verbal argument at a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed St. The officers’ investigation led to the arrests of Patrick Michael Kennedy of Jefferson for violation of a protective order* and Amelia Marie Kennedy of Jefferson for violation of a protective order- aiding and abetting*. At 7:24 pm a complainant reported an abandoned bike in the 300 block of W. Reed St.

Friday, April 17: At 3:43 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to her son’s vehicle while it was at Greene County High School. At 3:53 pm a complainant reported witnessing a vehicle strike a motorized toy that a child was operating at the intersection of Chestnut and Russell. A description of the vehicle was given. At 4:16 pm a complainant spoke to an officer about a possible harassment. At 4:40 pm a complainant reported a trespass occurring at a residence in the 800 block of S. Elm St. At 6:55 pm officers assisted the Greene County sheriff’s office with a reported female in the river at Henderson Park, who was being swept away in the fast current. The female was able to make her way out of the river before law enforcement arrived. At 9:41 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle parked at the Greene County High School.

Thursday, April 16: At 12:26 pm a traffic stop at Wilson and Lincoln Way resulted in the arrest of Johnathan Laue, 38, of Grand Junction for driving while barred*.

Wednesday, April 15: At 8:30 am the Hamilton County sheriff’s office requested an officer attempt to locate a male with a warrant out of their county that may be staying at a local hotel. At 1:12 pm a complainant reported reported identity theft at a residence in the 600 block of S. Chestnut St. ***An officer has charged Eliza Joy Smith, 25, of Scranton with driving while license revoked*. Smith had driven a vehicle to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center on April 10 while her privileges to operate a motor vehicle were revoked. ***An officer has charged Crawford James Petterson, 14, of Scranton with assault-serious*. The charge stem froms an assault reported on    March 31 at Greene County Middle School.

Tuesday, April 14: Ryan Footlander, 13, of Jefferson has been charged with assault – simple*. The charge stems from a reported assault on April 8 at the Webb House.

Monday, April 13: At 9:10 am a complainant reported identity theft. An unauthorized purchase had been made on a debit card in Illinois. At 10:45 am a complainant reported harassing phone calls at a residence in the 100 block of W. Madison Street. At 1:33 pm officers were advised of a domestic disturbance taking place in a vehicle in the 100 block of S. Grimmell Road. The vehicle was located in the 100 block of N. West Street. The couple was located nearby. The driver was cited for driving while suspended. At 11:35 pm staff at Hy-Vee reported a theft where a male had stolen two bottles of vodka. The incident remains under investigation at this time.

Sunday, April 12: At 1:37 am a complainant reported an assault that occurred in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St. An investigation into the incident was initiated. At 12:56 pm an officer investigated a car-motorcycle accident at N. Vine and W. Clark St. Brian Mobley was northbound on Vine Street on a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Cheri Delay was eastbound on Clark driving a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. Both vehicles approached the intersection at approximately the same time. Mobley laid the bike down to avoid a collision, but still struck the left passenger door on Delay’s vehicle. Mobley was transported to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County EMS for injuries received. Damage to Mobley’s motorcycle was estimated at $3,000. Damage to Delay’s vehicle was estimated at $500. Mobley was cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right. At 6:50 pm a complainant spoke to an officer regarding a 15-year-old boy being harassed by another male through text messaging.

Saturday, April 11: At 9:49 am a complainant reported trespass at a residence in the 200 block of E. Vest St.

Friday, April 10: At 9:14 am an officer arrested Nicolas Woods at the courthouse on a probation revocation warrant. At 12:51 pm staff at Dollar General reported shoplifting. The officer arrested Travis Venteicher, 32, and charged him with theft – fifth degree*. At 17:59 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief where a 2002 Chevrolet Impala had been keyed while parked in the Greene County High School parking lot. The officer estimated $800 in damage had been done to the vehicle.

Thursday, April 10: At 9:06 pm an officer investigated a traffic collision at W. Clark and N. Elm St. Angela Gibson was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer and had stopped at the stop sign on Clark St facing east. Harmony Thompson was southbound on Elm St in the outside lane driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. Gibson pulled into the intersection and the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles received damage exceeding their value and had to be towed from the scene. Gibson was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. At 9:31 pm a complainant reported a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of N. Olive St. A sheriff’s deputy handled the call as the officer was tied up with the accident.

Wednesday, April 8: At 4:57 pm a complainant reported an 11-year-old male had been assaulted at the Webb House. An investigation was initiated.

Tuesday, April 7: At 1:18 pm Kum and Go personnel reported a theft that had been attempted over the weekend by a short change artist.

Monday, April 6: At 11:27 am an officer was advised of a rooster being kept at a residence in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Way which was crowing in the mornings. The home owner was advised it is illegal to keep chickens within the city limits. At 1:03 pm a complainant reported harassment by another female at a residence in the 300 block of N. Chestnut St. At 2:32 pm suspected drug related items were turned over to an officer which had been found after tenants had moved out of a rental property in the 700 block of S. Elm St. At 4:03 pm officers removed a deer which had been struck by a vehicle in the 1400 block of S. Elm St. At 6:32 pm an officer was advised of a local vehicle which had been involved in a hit and run collision in Boone County. At 7:17 pm a complainant requested an officer at a residence in the 500 block of S. Elm St regarding a teenage female being harassment by a teenage male. At 8:32 pm an officer arrested Larry Gene Henderson III, 22, of Fallbrook, CA, on an outstanding warrant out of San Diego, CA, for stolen vehicle*. ***Pursuant to a complaint of shoplifting on Feb. 2 at Don’s Ace Hardware, a warrant has been issued charging Tanner Bush, 28, of Churdan with theft-fifth degree*.

Sunday, April 5: At 1:37 am a complainant reported a hit and run accident which had occurred in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St. Officers were provided with a vehicle description and partial plate of the vehicle that had left the area. An officer performed a traffic stop in the 300 block of W Russell St with the vehicle. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Alexander Ward Carter, 21, of Glidden for operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. Carter was issued a citation for unsafe backing upon a highway in connection to the traffic accident. Carter’s vehicle had struck a parked vehicle as it backed from a parking spot in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St. A 2000 Ford Focus, owned by Kaitlyn Elizabeth Duszynski of Stratford, suffered minor paint damage estimated at $500. The Carter vehicle also suffered minor damage estimated at $500 to repair.

Saturday, April 4: At 12:16 pm a complainant requested an officer to remove suspected narcotic items from the rental property in the 400 block of N. Cedar St. The officer is investigating. At 1:11 pm a complainant reported a sex assault that had occurred in Jefferson 15 years prior. The officer is working to obtain more information into the matter. At 7:02 pm while on patrol an officer noticed a dog tied out at the residence located at 608 West Lincoln Way. The officer knew that a dog at this residence had been deemed “Illegal” and ordered to leave the city in January 2015. The officer contacted the owner of the animal about the issue. Charges are pending.

Friday, April 3: At 10:03 am an officer arrested Kellie Rene Luther, 21 of Jefferson, on an outstanding Boone County arrest warrant. Luther was transported to Boone County. At 11:34 am officers responded to a “fight in progress” call at a residence in the 300 block of Reed St. The officer’s investigation led to Brittany Kay Smith, 27, of Jefferson being arrested for assault-simple*. At 1:21 pm an officer investigated a one vehicle accident in the parking lot at Shopko. Tammara Sue Binkley, struck a light pole. Binkley’s 2005 Hummer sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages. The light pole was knocked over and damage estimate is $3000 to replace it. No citation was issued as the accident occurred on private property. At 9:58 pm a traffic stop was performed in the 1000 Block of S. Chestnut St. Christina Scott Zweifel, 24, of Churdan was issued a citation for failure to prove security against financial liability. Zweifel also had an outstanding Carroll County arrest warrant. The officer arrested Zweifel on the outstanding warrant and she was later picked up by Carroll County.

Thursday, April 2: At 12:40 pm a complainant reported her son was being harassed by another student at Greene County High School. At 1:30 pm a complainant reported a purse had been stolen out of a vehicle in the 400 block of W. Greenewood Road.

Wednesday, April 1: At 10:14 am a complainant reported criminal mischief where a window was broken out of a vehicle in the 300 block of W. Reed St sometime over the previous weekend. At 12:30 pm a complainant reported smoke from burning near Russell and Elm Street. The officer found yard waste being legally burned in the 1100 block of S. Elm Street. At 1:52 pm an officer assisted with a brush fire in the 1000 block of Westwood Drive. At 2 pm a complainant reported domestic abuse assault which had occurred at a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed St.   An investigation was initiated. At 3:02 pm a complainant reported a fire in the 1500 block of County Road E-53. Officers located the property owner and determined the fire was properly contained.
