Greene County district court, week ending April 17

In Greene County district court Jeffrey Lynn Jones II, 38, hometown not listed, was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-third offense. All but 30 days of the prison term was suspended and Jones was placed on probation for three years. He must follow the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation and complete a community college drinking drivers school. Jones was fined $3,125 with a $1,093.75 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). Court costs were $140. Charges of possession of marijuana and driving while license revoked were dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)

Jennifer Ann Andrew, 29, of Adel was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. She was placed on informal probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense, and she must complete a community college drinking drivers school. She must pay a civil penalty of $1,250. Half the penalty may be waived under certain conditions. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing; Kester)

Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 25, of Jefferson was sentenced to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-second offense. He must follow the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation and complete a community college drinking drivers school. Andrews was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. He must pay sheriff’s fees for the jail time he serves, restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees in an amount to be determined, and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)

Lance Edward Kruse, 32, of Scranton was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Kruse was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must also pay $60 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Charles Noah Thompson, 74, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury; and Tamara Kay Arnold, 42, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a felon- aiding and abetting (19 counts). Trial dates were set for June 23 in both cases.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Eliza Joy Smith, 25, of Grand Junction, driving while license revoked; and Johnathan Dale Laue, 38, of Glidden, driving while license barred.
