Scranton library board vacancy: Volunteer needed

The H.F. and Maude E. Marchant Memorial Library in Scranton has an opening for a library board member. The library depends on citizen involvement to ensure that its services are as reflective of community needs as possible.

The library board of trustees is a seven-member board appointed by the mayor. As a policy-making body, it guides the development of library services. Terms on the board are six years. The board meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm.

Effective trustees bring to the library knowledge of the community, a commitment to the right of citizens to information, and a willingness to continually maintain and strengthen library services.

Persons who are interested in serving on the library board are asked to visit the library and fill out a form.  This expression of interest will place your name in for consideration by the mayor but will not guarantee appointment.

Current board members are  Roger Hoyt, Jan Morlan, Cathy Reck, Tina Walker, Dave Dideriksen and Mark Naberhaus.
