Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 2

In Greene County district court persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Rheise Allen Presnall, 22, of Churdan, assault on a peace officer and gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used; and Hossein Kolbehdari, 20, of Ankeny, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, assault on a peace officer and gathering where controlled substances are used. Trial dates were set for March 3 in both cases.

Arrest warrants for two defendants were returned Dec. 30. A warrant issued Dec. 11 charges Sarah Rochelle Carlson, 26, of Early with operating while intoxicated (OWI)-third offense and false report of indictable offense to public entity. A warrant issued Dec. 20 charges Joshua Matthew St John, 356, of Jefferson with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of prescription drugs (nine counts), possession of marijuana, forgery, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (two counts), and child endangerment.

Three cases were initiated against Hayley Lynn Brown, 22, of Jefferson. She is charged with two counts of forgery in one case, with one count of forgery in another case, and with burglary-third degree in the third case.  Other cases were initiated in district court as follows: Jennifer Ann Andrew, 29, of Adel, OWI-first offense; Cody Lee Sellman, 25, of Scranton, possession of firearm by a felon, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, and manufacture of marijuana; Larry Lee Warren Varnell,  21, of Churdan, driving while license barred; Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 26, of Jefferson, OWI-second offense; and Russell Lee Gardner, 39, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana-second offense and OWI-second offense.
