JPRD, Hy-Vee offering cooking class for kids

The Jefferson park and recreation department and Jefferson Hy-Vee dietician Kari Page are teaming up to offer a “Chef 4 a Day” cooking class for youngsters Monday, Jan. 19, a no-school day in Greene County. Children will learn to scoop, roll, spread, pour and stir up tasty treats. Children will also learn about the importance of including all the food groups in their diets.

“This is a great way to get children to try new foods with hands-on time in the kitchen,” a spokesperson said.

Youngsters ages 6-7 will meet from 1 to 2 pm, and youngsters ages 8-10 will meet from 3 to 4 pm.  The class will be held at the Greene County Community Center. Classes are limited to 10 participants each.
