Jeff Lamoureux of Jefferson has been named the first associate director for Habitat for Humanity of Boone and Greene Counties, and will soon open an office in Jefferson to support their local low-income home repair and construction efforts.

Lamoureux has previously served the city of Jefferson as park and recreation director for 10 years and is coming to Habitat from the same position he currently fills in Perry. He also has recent experience in business-to-business and consumer sales.

Lamoureux earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa after serving with the United States Navy. He is currently a member of the Greene County Community School District board of directors.

“I’m very excited to join the Habitat team,” said Lamoureux. “Having a safe home is such an integral part of family life and I look forward to meeting and working with families and volunteers to make the dream of homeownership a reality.” He added that he is pleased to be working in Jefferson again.

Jeff and his wife Jill are parents to four school-age children, a son in 11th grade, a daughter in ninth grade, and twin seventh grade daughters. They are members of the Church of Christ in Jefferson where Jeff leads Sunday morning adult Bible study.

The announcement of Lamoureux’s hire was made at the Nativity Festival Sunday. Habitat board president Harry Ahrenholtz of Jefferson welcomed Lamoureux and spoke of the organization’s elevated expectations. “With someone of Jeff’s caliber joining our current staff, we truly have the team in place to serve many more families going forward. We couldn’t be happier with our selection.”

Habitat for Humanity is a community-driven Christian housing ministry dedicated to ensuring safe, decent and affordable housing for families in need, both locally and around the world.
