American Legion officers visit Jefferson

Am Leg at Reg Park SanfordAmerican Legion Floyd Brown Post 11 of Jefferson hosted national vice commander Paul Sanford (pictured) of Newton, KS, and other officers in Jefferson Nov. 19. The morning visit was one of nearly 40 visits during a six-day tour of Iowa. According to Sanford, the purpose of the tour was to thank veterans for their service and to recruit new American Legion members.

Am Leg at Reg Park 2 The Legionnaires  talked with veterans and their spouses at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab and Sanford made brief comments. Department membership chairman Jim Peterson of Gowrie (right) and Sanford talked with Wayne Lingner of Grand Junction.

Their visit in Jefferson included time at AAI talking with veterans there, time at Regency Park, and a trip to the top of the Mahanay Bell Tower. Their first stop when they left Jefferson was the John Deere plant in Paton. Their Greene County host was Jim Andrew.
