Rams split non-conference games vs M-NW

RamThe Greene County softball team improved to 18-5 on the season and the baseball team fell to 5-12 in road games vs Manson-Northwest Webster in Manson Tuesday evening.

At the softball field, The Rams won 10-1. Sophomore Mackenzie Dennhardt handled pitching duties and got the win. She struck out three batters, walked no one, and gave up five hits. The Cougars’ one run was unearned.

The Rams had 11 hits, only two of which were singles. Sophomore Sydney Koch hit her first home run, a hard drive to left center field that cleared the fence and scored two runs. She got a third RBI with a sacrifice fly. Junior Tressa Rasmussen hit a triple and a double for two  RBI, and junior Emma Saddoris also hit a triple and a double for one RBI. Junior Marissa Promes hit a single and a double and got one RBI, while sophomore Carleigh Paup had a double and a single. Junior Emily Christensen scored an RBI with a double and junior Kayla Mobley also had a double.

At the baseball field, the score was 5-1 in favor of the Cougars.

Sophomore Daric Whipple was the starting pitcher and took the loss. Wes Tipton relieved him in the sixth inning. The Ram pitchers were not helped by five errors. The Cougars scored two runs in the first inning and single runs in the second, third and sixth innings. They had no errors for the game.

Ram batters contributed only singles to the effort. whipple and juniors Dylan McConnell, Alex Rasmussen, JC Weitl and Colton Fitzpatrick all hit singles. The Rams’ lone score was in the third inning. Sophomore Tyler Beger crossed home plate in the first move of a delayed double steal.
