Ram girls, boys second at Kip Janvrin Invite in Panora

The Greene County Rams were second behind Panorama on both the girls’ and the boys’ side of the Kim Janvrin coed Track and Field Invitational in Panora April 7.

The Panthers won the girls’ team title with 180 points to 178 for the Rams. Woodward-Granger had 90 with Glidden-Ralston at 44, Guthrie Center 37, Ogden 27, and Iowa Christian Academy (West Des Moines) 15.

The Panorama boys won with 171 points, with the Rams trailing at 127 points. Ogden was third with 120, followed by W-G at 100, G-R 21, Guthrie Center 12, and five from ICA.

The Ram boys won four events, with senior Roman Phillips setting two meet records in the process. Phillips won the 100 meter dash in :10.99, and his winning time of :22.82 in the 200 meters. Both were meet records. The 4 X 100 relay with Dylan Hamilton, JC Weitl, Max Neese and Phillips posted a winning time of :45.60. The same quartet won the 4 X 200 in 1:35.51.

The Greene County girls set a meet record in winning the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:08.83. Eme Johnson, Sarah Sandage, Nadia Fisher and Kate Sandage comprised that team.  State cross-county runner Allison Higgins took first place in the 3,000 run with a time of 11:38.13, and also won the 1,500 run with a time of 5:34.74.  Emma Saddoris, Olivia Hansen, Fisher, and Emily Christensen won the 4 X 200 relay with a time of 1:55.75, and 4 x 400, Hansen, Saddoris, Christensen, Johnson took first place in the 4 X 400 relay with a time of 4:24.46.

The lone first place finish in field competitions was freshman Nadia Fisher in the high jump at  4′ 8″.
