JPD, sheriff tell sTEP results

The Jefferson police department and the Greene County sheriff’s office have released the results of the special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) wave they conducted March 14-17.

The JPD reports issuing one citation for driving with a suspended or revoked license, a registration violation, and not having proof of insurance.

Fifty-three warnings were issued as follows: seat belt use, 11; child restraint, one; speed, four; stop sign/light violation, one; registration violations, 11; other traffic violations, five; equipment violations, 16; and not having proof of insurance, five.

Sheriff’s deputies issued 12 citations for speed and one citation for a registration violation.

Warnings were issued as follows: speed, three; stop sign violations, two; registration violations, one; equipment violations, two; and failure to have insurance, two.

Deputies served one arrest warrant, assisted three motorists, and responded to one vehicle accident.

The next sTEP wave will be May 19-June 1.
