Greene County district court, week ending March 21

In Greene County district court Erin Elizabeth Cain, 26, of Boone was granted a deferred judgment March 21 after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. She will be on informal probation for one year and she must pay a civil penalty of $1,250. She must complete a course for drinking drivers at a participating community college and she must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Zachary Eugene Sukovaty, 18. of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment March 18 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. He will be on informal probation for one year and he must pay a civil penalty of $1,250. He must complete a course for drinking drivers at a participating community college and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must also pay $90 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs of $100. (Sentencing: Kester)

Jennifer Wendy Gohn Chavez, 42, of Jefferson was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge on a charge of reckless driving and a fine of $65 with a $22.50 surcharge on a charge of public intoxication. The charges were amended from operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent and OWI-first degree. She must also pay $120 court costs and $90 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Anthony David Rothmeyer, 44, of Grand Junction was sentenced March 18 to one year in the county jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year, concurrent to another charge of driving while license barred. Rothmeyer was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. He must also pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and his driver’s license will be revoked for 180 days. Rothmeyer was originally charged with possession of methamphetamine-second offense and possession of marijuana-second offense. A case in magistrate court in which Rothmeyer was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. He must pay $100 court costs and $60 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Tammy Ann Tolsdorf, 47, of Grand Junction, tampering with a witness; and Michael Dean Laub, 47, of Rippey, identity theft. Trial dates were set for May 13 in both cases.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Jose Trinidad Hernandez, 24, of Grand Junction has been charged with unlawful possession of prescription drug (two counts). The warrant was issued Dec. 23 and returned March 19.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week that ended March 21 as follows: Frederick James Lonsdale, 40, of Perry, tamping with a witness, and in another case, burglary-third degree and operating without owner’s consent.
